When they first opened their doors in 1891, Benjamin Harrison was President. Lanterns and candle wicks were hot ticket items, and the corner store in Washington D.C., Candeys Hardware, had it allstoves, shoes, sodas, pickles and even those new fangled Levi s denim jeans.

Fast forward to a new millenimum and transpose a wood stove for a washing machine that also dries. From Viking stoves to Miele vacuums, the new Candey Appliance store at 817 South Washington Street is chock full of Old Town techno-luxuries.
Its a family businessbe sure to ask for dad Erik and son Ryan when you visit.
