Alexandria Police arrested Jonathan Dekker, a former member of the Super Bowl-bound Pittsburgh Steelers, for obstruction of justice at around 3:30 a.m. Saturday morning in Old Town. The 6-foot-5, 250-pound tight end was neutralized with pepper spray, according to a member of the Sheriffs Department.

In response to a complaint, police approached Dekker, who tried to flee but was apprehended, arrested and taken to jail. Police would not expand on the nature of the complaint or the exact location of the incident.

The ex-Steeler posted $1,000 bail Saturday. He is scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing February 2.

Dekker signed with the Steelers in 2006 out of Princeton University. He played three games for Pittsburgh in 2007 and was waived from the team last August after injuring his knee.
