Special Needs Support Group Meets Monday at St. Elmos

St. Elmos Group, a gathering of parents of children with special needs, meets Monday from 8 to 10 p.m. for the first installment of a three-part series. The sessions feature representatives from the Alexandria Network for Student Resources a network of professionals including coaches, an advocate, a tutor, an organizer, a psychologist and an early childhood specialist which works with students with a variety of learning issues.

Mondays meeting, focusing on the topic Smart But Scattered: Helping Kids Find Success Using Executive Skills, will take place at St. Elmos Coffee Pub in Del Ray. Laurie Chester and Kim Smith Kidd will discuss ways to bolster and improve executive skills such as problem solving, follow-through and time management in children and adolescents, according to ACPS.
