The T.C. WILLIAMS girls saw their own four-year run atop the Patriot District come crashing down in the first round of the district tournament on Friday night, losing to W.T. Woodson 60-54. Despite getting a season-high 25 points from junior Jasmine Norman, T.C. (6-14) couldn’t overcome the 30-point effort from the Cavaliers’ Melissa Gallo that came in tandem with Christiane Murray’s 16-point night.

Like the T.C. boys, the Lady Titans’ season ended with the opening round playoff loss. The new Patriot District champs were crowned at T.C. on Tuesday night, with West Potomac (boys) and West Springfield (girls) taking top seeds in the Northern Region tournament beginning this week.

Alexandria had two squads in the Interstate Athletic Conference tournament this week, with EPISCOPAL and ST. STEPHEN’S / ST. AGNES sporting the No. 3 and 4 seeds, respectively.

The Maroon blew out St. Albans 73-46 to open the league tournament but narrowly lost their semifinal game against Landon, falling 55-51 Monday night. Wasting no time, Episcopal (15-6) exacted a measure of revenge the next night, topping No. 1 seed Georgetown Prep 61-42 behind 26 points from Sadiq Abubakar and 20 points from Arnaud Adala-Moto.

The Saints lost their opening round game 55-50 against No. 5 Bullis on Saturday night even with three players notching double figures Jalen Williams (13 points), Jack Hamilton (12) and Justin Goldsborough (10). Though out of contention for the league title, St. Stephen’s  (11-11) won a consolation matchup with St. Albans on Monday night and now looks forward to the Sleepy Thompson Tournament this weekend.

The Saints and Maroon girls squads begin the Independent School League tournament this week.

The BISHOP IRETON boys (6-20) had a bitter week, with losses Friday, Saturday and Tuesday. Unfortunately for Ireton fans, the week went no better for the Cardinal girls (8-22) who added to their rough form with losses on the same nights.
