To the editor:

Because there is contention among City Council members on the terms and election dates for the Alexandria City Council and mayor, the obvious solution is to let the voters decide. After all, it is the voters Democrats, Republicans and Independents who will exercise their franchise on the election date, whenever it is. Let them decide on the terms of the electoral process and they will be much happier with the outcomes.
