Alexandria chefs among RAMMY nominees

Members of Alexandria’s two leading restaurant groups were announced March 23 as finalists for the 2010 RAMMY awards, the Washington area’s recognition of elite talent in the restaurant industry. Vermillion, of the Neighborhood Restaurant Group, is nominated for Best Upscale Casual Restaurant along with Central, Liberty Tavern, Proof and Zaytinya.

In the Rising Culinary Star category, Shannon Overmiller of Majestic Caf, Michael Isabella of Zaytinya, Liam LaCivita of Liberty Tavern, Nicholas Stefanelli of Bibiana and Jon Mathieson of Inox each received nods.

EatGoodFoodGroup (Restaurant Eve, PX and Majestic Caf) is among the finalists in a new category for top Beverage/Mixology program. Other finalists are Brasserie Beck, Founding Farmers, PS7’s and Tabard Inn.

Josh Short of the Neighborhood Restaurant Group is among the nominees for Pastry Chef of the Year. Other finalists are Anthony Chavez of 2941, Amanda Cook of City Zen, Fabrice Bendano of Adour and Travis Olson of 1789. 

Sponsored by the Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington, the winners will be announced June 6.
