Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell (R), left, paid a return visit to Carpenter’s Shelter on Tuesday afternoon, checking up on the homeless shelter’s recent renovations and meeting with new Executive Director Lissette Bishins.
The state’s top executive, a Bishop Ireton High School alum, came bearing gifts: McDonnell presented the shelter with a check for $6,200, left over from his inauguration fund, to support initiatives like Carpenter’s Shelter’s Out of Poverty program.
