Austin Danforth, contributing editor and reporter for the Alexandria Times, will move on to the next step in his career this week.

For almost two years Danforth, a native of Vermont, covered sports, education and a variety of other subjects for the Times as its most prolific writer. His work earned him multiple awards from the Virginia Press Association earlier this year.

Danforth was also the Times primary photographer.

He writes with such verve that its often easy to overlook his often-stunning front-page photos, said Editor-in-Chief David Sachs. His contributions will be missed.

Danforth is moving back to Vermont, where he will focus his journalistic efforts on writing about sports.
