Vaughn Ambrose, lead music teacher at Francis Hammond Middle School, moonlights as the bandleader of his self-named quartet at the Del Ray Music Festival Saturday. 

Ambrose, whose resume includes performances with The Temptations, Lou Rawls, Aretha Franklin and Gladys Knight, jazzed a crowd of several hundred enjoying fair weather outside the Mount Vernon Recreation Center. The annual festival featured a slew of local musicians, food from neighborhood restaurants and games and activities for children.
