Port City Brewing owner and founder Bill Butcher’s business plan includes focusing on a few beers and producing a quality product, but that doesn’t mean he’s ruled out experimentation.

On August 26, the Wheeler Avenue brewery announced on Twitter the addition of an Oktoberfest brew to its repertoire. The German Marzen-style beer is Port City’s first seasonal beer and the brewery’s inaugural lager, according to DCBeer.com.

Master brewer Jonathan Reeves described the seasonal as being on the hoppy end, telling DCBeer.com the brew will be served unfiltered. Reviewers at Beeradvocate.com have so far given the new brew an A- rating.

Since opening in the spring, Port City has rolled out four brews, including the Monumental IPA, Essential Pale Ale, Optimal Wit and Porter.
