A sneak peak at Bork Barrel BBQ's dining room reveals a modern look to accompany the age-old art of barbecuing.

The wait is over for local barbeque fans. Pork Barrel BBQ will finally open Tuesday at 2300 Mount Vernon Ave.

Inspired by the award-winning barbeque sauce of the same name, Pork Barrel BBQ’s restaurant was a touchy subject in 2010, when concerns over its hours of operation and potential smoke emissions enflamed debate among residents.

But the restaurant has since passed all of its inspections and will open the doors to its brand new mixed-use building in Del Ray at 5 p.m. and won’t close them until 10 p.m.

Founded by Heath Hall and Brett Thompson, restaurateurs Bill Blackburn and Mike Anderson, who owns Mango Mikes on the West End, also own a piece of Pork Barrel BBQ.
