Episcopal showed up backyard rival St. Stephen’s and St. Agnes in quick fashion Saturday afternoon, walloping the Saints 37-7.

The Maroon put up 20 points in the first quarter, with two of three touchdowns coming on long runs by fleet-footed senior quarterback and wide receiver, Austin de Butts. He followed his impressive first-quarter performance with another pair of rushing touchdowns for the long-suffering squad in the second.

In all, de Butts rushed for 175 yards on 12 carries while teammate Adam Lynn, who earned a first-quarter rushing touchdown, racked up 111 yards on 11 attempts.

Junior kicker Bobby Myers added to the Maroon’s lead with a 35-yard field goal early in the second half. While Myer’s kick capped off Episcopal’s offensive clinic, it was more than enough to seal the deal for the Maroon.

It was a less-than-stellar outing for the Saints, who lost possession of the ball twice on fumbles and earned just five first downs during the game. The 1-6 Saints, 0-2 in their conference, finish up the regular season against St. Albans on Saturday.

The Maroon, 3-4 overall and 2-1 in conference play, face Bullis on Friday before ending their regular season with a matchup against Woodberry Forest on November 12.
