The Atlantic Coast Conference named Episcopal High School alum Danny Coale the 2011 winner of the Jim Tatum Award, handed out annually to the league’s top senior.

Coale, who joined Virginia Tech as a wide receiver after graduating from Episcopal in 2007, holds the second most career receptions, 155, and pass receiving yardage, 2,530, in Hokie history. The Lexington native is the first VT player to earn the distinction, which celebrates the accomplishments of dedicated student athletes.

While at Episcopal, Coale dominated not only the gridiron, but played lacrosse and participated in indoor track. He also served on the athletic advisory board for four years.

Coale wrapped up a degree in finance in the fall of 2010. He currently is working on a second undergraduate degree in marketing management.
