Ignacio, who will officially begin overseeing Superintendent Morton Sherman’s office January 2, is a 20-year veteran of ACPS. Before being tapped to manage the superintendent’s office’s daily operations, Ignacio served as an executive associate principal at T.C. Williams, assistant principal at James Polk Elementary School and human resources’ employment services’ acting director.

At the same time, Sherman has asked former Jefferson Houston School principal Kimberley Graves to take the reins at Minnie Howard, T.C.’s satellite campus for freshmen students.

Graves, who recently left Jefferson-Houston to serve as a principal on assignment for central administration, has a history with Minnie Howard. She held a teaching position at the West Braddock Road school from 1999 to 2004.

“I know that [Graves] and [Ignacio] will work closely together to ensure a smooth, seamless transition for our students,” Sherman said in a statement. “The dedication of these two individuals to step up to serve where they are most needed is commendable.”
