Episcopal High School alumni Tim Hightower knows what he wants in the offseason: a spot back on the Washington Redskins’ roster.

Hightower, who graduated from the North Quaker Lane school in 2004, told Comcast Sportsnet’s Ryan O’Halloran staying in the region would mean a lot. The Redskins traded for Hightower, now a free agent, just before the season’s start.

“Just being around your family … it was special for me and this somewhere I would like to play for a long time,” Hightower told O’Halloran Wednesday.

The 25-year-old running back rushed for 321 yards and a touchdown before tearing his ACL in the team’s week seven matchup against Carolina. He averaged 3.8 yards a carry up until the injury, which sidelined him for the remainder of the season.

While rehabilitating, Hightower found time to visit his high school and give the football squad a pre-game pep talk. The surprise appearance came before the Maroon’s final Interstate Athletic Conference game of the season.

“He spoke to us about how high school football games stick with you, how even now as an NFL player he can still recall specific plays against St. Albans, Landon and Woodberry,” senior quarterback Austin deButts said afterward.

While wearing a Maroon jersey, Hightower rushed for 2,010 yards and 22 touchdowns.
