Prince George’s County police took custody of a second man wanted for the murder of local activist Lenny Harris Thursday afternoon and officials say more arrests are coming.

Authorities charged Ivan Newman, 20, of Waldorf, Md., with first-degree murder, kidnapping and robbery. They arrested him in Charles County, a police spokesman said. Few details of Newman’s role in Harris’ death were released.

Prince George’s County police, who have taken the lead role in the homicide investigation, arrested 49-year-old Linwood Johnson of Oxon Hill, Md., on Tuesday, just days after confirming the body recovered from the bottom of a 20-foot well in Fort Washington was the well-known Del Ray resident and community advocate.

Johnson provided authorities with a confession and police say they’ve also secured the weapon allegedly used to kill Harris. An autopsy revealed Harris died of a gunshot wound.

Harris, who founded the One Love Festival and advocated for Alexandria’s poor and minority residents, disappeared on September 21. Authorities, investigating an anonymous tip, discovered his body on January 26.
