Kimpton kitchens under new management

After four years working under chef Robert Weland at Penn Quarter’s Poste restaurant, Brian McPherson is taking over the kitchens at Jackson 20 and the Grille at Morrison House.

McPherson, a Pittsburgh native, was announced as the new executive chef of both Old Town establishments earlier this month, though he officially took over in January. Expect McPherson’s much-anticipated tweaks to the sister restaurants’ menus to be publicized in the spring.

A graduate of the Pennsylvania Institute of Culinary Arts, McPherson’s experience includes stints in Martha’s Vineyard and North Carolina. As Weland’s executive sous chef, McPherson was instrumental in managing the kitchen garden, composting and liaising with farmers.

Bringing his experience in sustainability initiatives with him, McPherson also plans to create a small chef’s garden in the Jackson 20 courtyard in the coming months.
