West Springfield beat T.C. Williams 40-37 on Monday night, extending their multiyear win streak against the Lady Titans to eight consecutive matchups.

Coach Kesha Walton had drawn a target on the Spartans before the season began, making beating West Springfield one of the team’s top priorities for the year. That’s not going to happen during the regular season, though the Titans might have another shot at the Spartans in the postseason.

The Titans have not won a game against the Spartans since the 2008-09 season.

Despite a heroic fourth-quarter effort — the Spartans outscored the Titans in the previous 24 minutes of play — T.C. couldn’t catch up with West Springfield. The loss interrupts T.C.’s four-game win streak against Patriot District rivals.

As the regular season winds down, the Titans are 13-6 overall and 9-2 against conference teams. They face another Patriot District squad, South County, on the road tonight.
