Despite a tough loss in their season opener, the T.C. Williams Titans opened up offensively to thump Wakefield, 1

5-3, in their first and only matchup this season.

Head Coach Jim Blair has said the Titans can rely on their bats to keep them competitive this season and they didnt disappoint on Friday. Senior catcher Travis Clark led the team, bringing three runners home.

Clark, a veteran T.C. player and team leader, went three for four at the plate.

Ireton falls to Good Counsel

Coming off a pair of wins against Pope John Paul the Great and Liberty Christian, Bishop Ireton was handed a loss by Good Counsel to put them at 4-2 on the season.

Despite dropping a 9-2 game to Gonzaga earlier in the month, the Cardinals had won four out of five varsity matchups to start the season.

Iretons sluggers handily carried them to an 18-8 win over Pope John Paul the Great and though their bats cooled off playing Liberty Christian, the Cardinals still celebrated a 4-0 win over the weekend.

But the bats went quiet during a 3-0 loss to Good Counsel Tuesday night.

The 4-2 Cardinals take the field against St. Annes Belfield, March 25 before heading to Covenant Community School on March 26.

The St. Stephens and St. Agnes Saints head into a short break in the season with a 1-2 record after pummeling Georgetown Day School 15-5 Thursday afternoon.

Entering the game winless on the season, the Saints bats came alive March 17, racking up 15 runs in the rout. SSSAS had previously been blown out by Bishop Ireton, 12-5, and Paul VI, 10-0.

The Saints look to reach .500 on the season with a win over Riverdale Baptist when they take to the field again on March 29.
