A bearded man – and possibly armed – man held up an Old Town TD Bank branch on Sunday afternoon, Alexandria police said.

The suspect walked into the 119 S. Washington St. about 3:48 p.m. and passed a note demanding money to a teller. The message also implied the man was armed, police said, though they did not specify the type of weapon.

After the teller turned over cash, the suspect fled the bank. Police did not release the amount of money stolen in the heist.

Authorities describe the suspect as a bearded black man about six-foot-one with a medium build. He wore a dark colored hooded jacket, blue jeans and light-colored shoes during the robbery.

Police ask anyone with information about the suspect or the heist to contact detective William Oakley at 703-746-6606 or the department’s criminal investigations section at 703-746-6711.
