City police are investigating a report of a sexual assault Monday against a student at Northern Virginia Community College.

Around 2 p.m. police responded to the 5000 block of Dawes Ave., said Alexandria Police Department spokeswoman Crystal Nosal. Officers spoke with a 19-year-old female victim, who said that as she was walking to the community college campus, a man approached her from behind, grabbed her groin and fled on foot.

Police are looking for a thin man in his 20s, about 5-feet-4-inches tall, with a beard and mustache as a possible suspect, Nosal said. At the time of the incident, he was reportedly wearing a brown shirt, brown shorts and a black baseball cap.

Nosal said Thursday she had no additional information about the case.

Investigators are encouraging anyone with information about the incident or the suspect to call detective Adrienne Miller at 703-746-6734.
