Autumn is nearly upon us and the perfect spot to celebrate the coming of fall is situated right in the heart of Old Town.

Located at 127 N. Washington St., Le Refuge boasts several sidewalk cafe tables, perfect for guests looking to adopt the Parisian lifestyle for a few hours, with an inside dining room that is as as cozy as they come for when the weather turns colder.

While there, be sure to check out one of the fantastic seasonal dishes. For instance, the restaurant’s pan-seared soft shell crabs are served with toasted almonds and garlic butter sauce. You had better hurry to try it though, because this seasonal dish is only available for a few more weeks.

Not in the mood for crab? You’ve got plenty of other options. The rack of lamb, coq au vin, beef Wellington, Dover sole and frog legs are all excellent choices. To complete the meal, the French onion soup is flavorful and topped with the perfect amount of cheese. Its consistency is perfect — it is neither too thick nor too watery.

Be sure to check out the extensive drinks list too, which contains a number of French wines that will certainly please your palate.

Keep Le Refuge in mind as the holidays approach. The restaurant is perfect for family gatherings as well as workplace outings, although you must act fast as reservations are taken quickly at this popular eatery.

The restaurant’s team, which consists of Jean Francois Chaufour, his daughter and son-in-law, take great pleasure in welcoming local families during the height of the holiday season. They are proud that many choose to spend Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve inside the 30-year-old neighborhood staple.

Le Refuge also offers three-course meals for lunch and dinner. For $18.95, one can enjoy a three-course meal for lunch. In addition, the “Pre & Post-Theater” three-course menu is just $27.95 and is available Monday through Thursday from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. and 9 to 10 p.m.

Enjoy the last few weeks of warm weather and ease into fall with a visit to Le Refuge for fine French cuisine.

Bon Appetit!
