This 15-year-old brick luxury home on Summit Terrace in Belle Haven is a replica of the original Virginia Governors mansion in Williamsburg, dating from 1722. But its luxuries and amenities are designed to appeal to the modern family, including an elevator reaching the master suite on the third floor. The house is listed by Ann Duff of McEnearney Associates for $2,895,000. (Call 703-965-8700)
The ironwork front gate opens onto a courtyard where brick steps lead to the front door. Following the classic Colonial pattern, the dining room and parlor stand on either side of the foyer.

The dining room features large windows with marble window sills, a wood burning fireplace and chair rail decoration. The living room stands behind two sets of French doors. The rear entrance opens to the hallway near the elevator, across from the kitchen.

The dining room adjoins the kitchen, where a large breakfast island boasts a limestone counter above the limestone floors. The island contains a sink and bar.  The Aga cast iron stove was designed in Sweden. The appliances also include two dishwashers and an espresso machine. French doors separate the kitchen from the main hall.

A glass display cabinet divides this area from the wood- paneled casual dining room, where doors lead to the brick patio and the two-car garage. Opposite the dining area, a family room boasts built-in media cabinets and a built-in desk. The fireplace faces white pillars framing the kitchen. Two steps lead down to a mud room.

From the mud room, a stairway leads further down to the recreation area. It features a stone fireplace, a wine cellar and a sauna. A guest suite includes a full bath with a glass shower.

In the main hall, another staircase leads to the second level. An expansive great room features a fireplace, a wet bar, built-in bookcases and cabinets. Balconies on either side overlook the side yard and patio. One bedroom adjoins a bath with a Jacuzzi tub and glass-enclosed shower. On the other side of the hall, two bedrooms share a full bath.

The third level is devoted to the master suite, which stands at the top of the stairs and can also be reached by the elevator. This area includes a kitchenette and a sitting room, in addition to a master bath with a fireplace, a jetted soaking tub, a steam shower and a separate commode area with a sink and bidet.

At the rear of the master bath, a walk-in closet/dressing room includes a built-in dresser, and a stairway to an attic storage area.

The walled garden features a brick patio, fountain and landscaping. A spiral staircase leads to one of the great-room balconies. The two-car garage is located off the main-floor family room.

The schools are Belle View Elementary, Carl Sandberg Middle and West Potomac High.
