Ending months of speculation, former Alexandria Mayor and Alexandria City Public Schools Athletic Director Kerry Donley announced Wednesday that he will resign June 30 to run for the House of Delegates
Donley hopes to represent the 46th District in Virginia’s House of Delegates, the seat currently occupied by House Democratic Caucus Chair Brian Moran (D), a soon-to-be-declared candidate for governor in 2009.
“I have truly enjoyed my three years at T.C. Williams,” Donley said. “Our students have won championships, achieved individual success and always competed with spirit and enthusiasm. I am proud to have been associated with such a great group of students, coaches and parents.”
A search will begin immediately for a new athletic director.
