Police have charged an 18-year-old Annandale man with three counts of brandishing a gun at two high school students as they walked home from school near the intersection of Allman Drive and McWhorter Place in Annandale. The incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 20. Two boys observed an argument and approached to see if they could help. The suspect left briefly, retrieved his car and followed the boys, allegedly pointing a black pistol at them.

The boys fled to an elementary school, Annandale Terrace, where they reported the incident and police were immediately notified. Measures were taken to ensure the safety of the students as well as the school grounds.

With assistance from the Annandale High School Resource Officer, police identified and located the suspect. Andrew Lin, 18 of 7618 Roanoke Ave., Annandale, was arrested and transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center. Brandishing a weapon within 1000 feet of a school is a Class Six Felony. Two weapons were located and determined to be plastic pistol replicas.
