Just in time for the July 1st increase in parking meters, the city is installing new, Buck Rogers-like multi-space parking meters in the East Eisenhower-Carlyle area throughout July. The state of the art meters will provide short-term parking to support ground floor retail space.
The city says the multi-space parking meters will serve several parking spaces in a centralized location and allow convenient payment options by coin or credit card. Multi-space parking meters will increase reliability, lower maintenance costs, and reduce sidewalk clutter, the city says.
The city’s East Eisenhower-Carlyle sector plan recommended use of on-street parking meters to encourage parking turnover.
Effective July 1, all parking meter rates in the city are $1.00 per hour, Monday through Friday, between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
