The City of Alexandria’s Commission for the Arts will host its second annual film festival from September 25 through September 28 at the Lee Center’s Kauffman Auditorium, 1108 Jefferson St.
This year’s film festival theme is “Politics in the USA,” and the Alexandria Commission for the Arts is seeking short films, features, and documentaries supporting the theme. Winning films will be shown as part of the festival.
“Politics in the USA” is defined broadly, but entries must have a clear connection to events and issues in the United States, either current or historical. International films related to United States politics are encouraged. The festival will also include a youth program component featuring junior filmmakers 18 and younger. “As one of the top arts destinations in the United States, and with Washington D.C. as a neighbor, Alexandria is the perfect place for a film festival on politics,” said Pat Miller, chair of the Alexandria Commission for the Arts. “We invite films that inspire, provoke, and entertain, regardless of their political perspective.”
