An interim principal will serve T.C. Williams High School as the search for a permanent principal continues.
William Clendaniel, current principal of Langley High School in McLean, has been named Interim Principal of T.C. Williams beginning July 1. Mr. Clendaniel is retiring this year and is not a candidate for the T.C. principal position. He will continue to serve as interim until a new principal reports.
The search began immediately after current principal Mel Riddile announced that he was leaving to take a position with the National Association of Secondary School Principals.
Incoming Alexandria City Public Schools Superintendent Morton Sherman will make a recommendation to the School Board on Thursday, July 24.
The plan is for the new principal to begin in August. A detailed timeline was mailed to parents of T.C. Williams students this week, and can be viewed online at http://www.acps.k12.va.us/news2008/nr2008061901.php.
