Adult drowns
Hamid Ahmed, 37, of McLean drowned in his pool Sunday. Police responded to a home in the 1000 block of Basil Road in McLean on June 15 shortly after 6:30 p.m. Officers were led to the rear of the home where Fairfax County Fire and Rescue personnel were performing CPR on a man who was found unconscious at the bottom of the swimming pool. Ahmed was transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital and pronounced dead. The investigation is ongoing; however, the death does not appear suspicious in nature.

Indecent exposure/arrest
Rashad Fortune, a 29 year old male of no fixed address, was arrested by officers and charged with two counts of Indecent Exposure 18.2-387 after he exposed himself to two Alexandria residents on the bike path. The incident took place on the 500 block of Slaters Lane on June 15 between 7:20 a.m. and 7:47 a.m. It is one of a rash of similar criminal offenses in this area that are currently under investigation.

Officer helps save child
A six-year veteran officer of the Fairfax County Police Department helped save the life of a two-year-old boy, choking on a grape. He was dispatched to a home in the 7200 block of Marlan Drive in the Belle View area on Mon., June 16 around 8:30 p.m. He arrived before the paramedics and was quickly met by a woman carrying her child. Private First Class Matthew Griffin realized the boy was choking. His airway was obstructed so the officer delivered back blows to dislodge the object. Just as paramedics from the Mount Vernon fire station of the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department arrived, the child made a small crying sound. Paramedics took over and transported the boy to Inova Mount Vernon Hospital for observation.

Burglary
On June 16 between 6:05 a.m. and 4:40 p.m. an unknown suspect forced entry to the home and removed personal property from West Myrtle Street.

The victim, a 23-year-old Alexandria man, reports two black males approached him as he got to the door of his apartment and removed personal property from him on June 13 at 11:20 p.m. at the 5700 block of Sheffield Court.  There were no injuries.

At 825 North Washington St. on June 12 between 1:00 a.m. and 7:30 a.m., an unknown suspect entered the business by force. Once inside, the suspect removed cash.

Robbery
On the 4600 block of Seminary Road on June 11 at 11:30 p.m, the victim, a 25 year-old Washington, DC man, reports that three unknown suspects approached him and brandished a firearm. The suspects removed cash from the victim and fled. There were no injuries. The first suspect is described as a black male, 25-years-old, 56 – 57 and wearing a black shirt, grey sweatpants and brown boots. The second suspect is described as a white male, wearing khaki pants and a brown shirt. The third suspect is described as a black male.
