A Star-Spangled Evening

Alexandria celebrated its 259th birthday Saturday at Oronoco Bay Park with The Alexandria Symphony Orchestra and a fireworks show, while just up the street at Gadsbys Tavern Musuem another birthday bash honored The Little Theatre of Alexandrias 75th anniversary.  Actors and theatre supporters enjoyed the gala, which featured a short preview of the theatres upcoming 1776 production with an appearance by John Adams, played by Alexandria native Mick Tinder.

The patriotic night continued with a large crowd gathered at the rivers edge for the citys Fourth of July celebration which it traditionally hosts the weekend after the Fourth. Rounds of cannon fire accompanied the fireworks and the symphonys stirring finale to delight all.
