


Police Make Second Arrest in Shooting
On July 21, detectives arrested a 16 year-old Alexandria juvenile and charged him with malicious wounding, attempted robbery and use of a firearm in commission of a felony. On July 12, a 38 year-old Fairfax man, was shot during an attempted street robbery. Alexandria detectives arrested Robert Boyd, Jr., 18, of 307 Oronoco Street on July 15. Boyd was charged with Malicious Wounding and Attempted Robbery.
Drive-by shooting suspect arrested
Sterling Lee Hubbard has been charged with shooting into an occupied dwelling, malicious wounding and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony for an attack on a home in the 3400 block of Beechcraft Drive in the Hybla Valley area of Fairfax County on July 20. Hubbard is charged with driving by the address and firing several bullets into the home.
An 18-year-old Alexandria-area man was struck in the upper arm by a bullet. He was treated at Inova Mount Vernon Hospital for non life-threatening injuries.
Hubbard was arrested late Sunday night when he entered the emergency room at Inova Mount Vernon Hospital for injuries sustained in an earlier altercation. He was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.
Alexandria woman injured in Florida crash
On Sunday, July 20, LaToya Denan Barnes, 21, of Alexandria, suffered minor injuries after being ejected from a vehicle involved in a car crash that claimed the life of the driver, a Florida resident, in Tallahassee, Fla. A second Floridian, the driver of a second car was also injured.
The passengers who were thrown from the vehicle apparently were not wearing seat belts.
