Molina Healthcare of Virginia  announced it has been awarded a contract by the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors to staff, manage and operate three county primary care clinics one of which is located in Alexandria.

“We are excited about this new partnership with Fairfax County. Molina Healthcare began with the establishment of a single primary care medical clinic to serve the patients that have traditionally faced barriers to accessing healthcare services,” said J. Mario Molina, M.D.

President and CEO of Molina Healthcare. “Almost thirty years later, we remain committed to this population and continue to and operate our own clinics in California.  Although we may have grown and expanded we have never forgotten our roots based in direct patient care delivery.”

Beginning July 1, 2008, Molina will operate the Fairfax County Community Health Care Network (CHCN), which is comprised of three county clinics (Falls Church, Alexandria and Reston) that provide comprehensive medical services to over 12,000 of the county’s uninsured residents.  Providing approximately 48,000 primary care visits annually, each center has a licensed pharmacy and each provides laboratory services.  Two of the facilities also offer radiology services.

“We chose Molina Healthcare as our partner for many reasons including their dedication to quality healthcare and outstanding disease management programs.  But just as important is their years of experience providing healthcare for ethnically diverse populations,”

said Dr. Gloria Addo-Ayensu, Director of Health for the Fairfax County Health Department, “In a market as diverse as Fairfax, we searched for a company that had the experience and commitment to serve a population that has been referred to as the ‘most diverse county population’ in the country.”
