Monroe Ave. access lane closed

Potomac Yard Development and Shirley Contracting announced the access lane from southbound Route 1 to Monroe Avenue closed on Monday, Feb. 4th.  The lane will be closed in order to continue the construction of the second span (southbound span) of the new Monroe Avenue Bridge. Access to Route 1 from Monroe Avenue will be provided in the mid-summer when the new Potomac Avenue and South Main Street loop are open. 

Route 1 Motorists Wanting to Access Del Ray:
Southbound motorists wanting to access Del Ray can turn right on East Glebe Rd. to left on Commonwealth Ave. to a left on Mount Vernon Ave.
Northbound motorists wanting to access Del Ray can turn left on either Wythe St. to Braddock Rd. to right on Mount Vernon Ave. OR turn left on East Glebe Rd. to left on Commonwealth Ave. to a left on Mount Vernon Ave.

From the Del Ray Community to Route 1:
Monroe Avenues access to Route 1 Northbound and Southbound will be temporarily closed during this phase of construction when coming from Del Ray.
Access to and from Route 1 from Howell Avenue and Bellefonte Avenue will be temporarily closed during this phase of construction.
Motorists wanting to access Southbound Route 1 can turn right from Windsor Ave. to Southbound Route 1 (Windsor Ave. will remain a right in and right out access point on Route 1).

Pedestrian Walkways:
A signalized pedestrian crosswalk will be provided across Route 1 at Custis Ave., Howell Ave. and at First St.
A walkway will be provided on the south side of Slaters Ln. to Route 1.  Pedestrians needing to access the west side of Route 1 will need to cross at either First St. or Howell Ave. access point.
Pedestrians accessing Del Ray should follow the Sidewalk Detour signs from Route 1 to Bellefonte Ave. to Duncan St. to the YMCA.
