Purple Heart Ceremony Mount Vernon honors all recipients of the Purple Heart with this commemoration at the Purple Heart Memorial located just outside Mount Vernons Main Gate. The memorial marks the beginning of the Purple Heart Trail, which runs through Virginia and will ultimately extend to all other states. Del Ray Artisans Board Walk: An Art and Technology Journey – Celebrate the art of making by taking an interactive walk as art and technology merge at the Del Ray Artisans August show, including painting, photography and technology, ranging from realism to abstract. Morningstar Productions presents Cheaper by the Dozen – In their sixth season, Morningstar Productions will present Cheaper by the Dozen, a family friendly production appropriate for all audiences, at 7:30 pm Thursday through Saturday, August 7th, 8th, and 9th, 2008, with a 2:00 pm matinee on Saturday, August 9th. Alexandria Marketing Committee Meeting Rescheduled – The Review Meeting of the Alexandria Marketing Committee, scheduled for Monday, July 28, has been rescheduled. The committee will now meet on Monday, August 11, at 8 a.m. in Sister Cities Conference Room 1101, City Hall (301 King St., Alexandria). The purpose of the meeting is to review applications for the Alexandria Marketing Fund, now in its second round of funding. The purpose of the committee is to foster public/private cooperation and coordination among multiple businesses and organizations to promote Alexandria as a destination for visiting, shopping, dining and doing business.
