



All sorts of mementoes celebrating T.C. Williams Varsity Boys Basketball State Championship first state championship in 27 years have gone on sale at the school.
A DVD of the game and T-shirts commemorating the title are available for purchase at the schools Athletic Department, 3330 King St.. Students can purchase shirts during lunch periods. The DVDs cost $20. Short-sleeved gray T-shirts cost $5, and long-sleeved gray T-shirts cost $8 apiece. Only cash in the exact dollar amount is accepted as payment.
On March 14, the Titans stomped the Bethel High School Bruins 70 – 57 to make history and win the Virginia High School League AAA Boys Varsity Basketball Tournament at the Siegel Center in Richmond. The Titans are Virginia Champions for the first time since 1977, and their win ended an almost three decade Northern Region state title drought.
Coached by Northern Region Coach of the Year Ivan Thomas, the DVD shows how the team held the lead throughout the game and was up by as many as 19 points midway through the fourth quarter.
Senior Travis Berry scored 23 points, including five 3-point shots, and Player of the Game Edward Jenkins scored 22 points. Anthony Winbush scored 14, including a 40-foot jumper from half court at the buzzer ending the third quarter. Bethel went into the game with a 20-1 regular season record; the Titans finished their regular season 19-3.
The DVD also shows the capacity crowd at Virginia Commonwealth University’s Siegel Center which featured a huge contingent of enthusiastic Titans supporters, including five busloads of T.C. Williams students.
