The Seventh Annual 1 Love Community Festival took place Saturday at G.W. Middle Schools Braddock Road field where about 1,000 community members gathered throughout the day to dance, eat, sing and (moon) bounce, among other activities. Presented by two Alexandria mentoring groups, Operation H.O.P.E. (Help Oppressed People Emancipate) and Untouchables, the 1 Love Festivals goal was to bring the whole community together, especially the African American community, but everybody else too, said Lenny Harris, director of Operation H.O.P.E. and one of the festivals chief organizer.

Hosted by WHUR 96.3 DJ Tony Richards and sponsored by the Alexandria Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural activities and various vendors, families especially kids of all ages enjoyed live music from blues and jazz to gospel and folk as it boomed from the speakers. A double-dutch tournament and a boxing ring added a spark of competition while others enjoyed water slides, face painting and other rides.
