Run to Raise Money for Leukemia Research
The Annual Poker Run, hosted by The Capital Area Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, starts at noon, Aug. 24, at the Old Dominion Boat Club, 1 King Street, Alexandria. The event includes a poker run, BBQ and prizes for the top three poker hands.

The poker run is a great way for power boaters to be involved in the fight against blood cancers while enjoying competition and camaraderie among the local boat community, said Loree Lipstein, LLS campaign manager and poker run coordinator. The Poker Run is one event within the Annual Leukemia Cup Series. Other events include the Junior Regatta, also on August 24, and the Leukemia Cup Regatta on September 6.

There is a $50 registration fee per boat. The money raised by participants supports the chapters mission to cure leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma, and to improve the lives of patients and their families.

For more information about the Poker Run, contact Loree Lipstein at the National Capital Area Chapter of the Leukemia Society at (703) 960-1100, or visit www.leukemiacup.org/nca.
