


A school-wide Worlds Fair celebrating the student bodys Journey, Leadership and Legacy is taking place today and Monday, June 9, at Minnie Howard School, 3801 West Braddock Road, Alexandria.
Each day, students are performing and leading interactive programs based on a specific era of world history and literature. Todays afternoon activities take place from 2 to 3 p.m., and Mondays activities take place from 9 to 11 a.m., 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 to 3 p.m.
Todays events feature Prehistory, Egypt, Mesopotamia, India, China and Greece, and Mondays activities center on Rome, Byzantine and Muslim Empires, Africa, Mesoamerica, Middle Ages and the Renaissance.
Highlights include hands-on workshops on ancient weaving and hieroglyphics, a Buddhist monastery, performances based on Mesopotamian and Indian Literature, interactive maps of Africa, tours through a Greek museum, Roman cultural exhibits, Roman Emperor speeches, a global art show, hands-on demonstrations of crest-making, a medieval banquet and medieval cultural skits and Shakespearean soliloquies.
