From beautiful flowers grown in local gardens to magnificent floral designs, the National Capital Area Garden Club’s District II Standard Flower Show ~~”All Things Bright and Beautiful” ~~ is a wonderful opportunity for flower lovers to shake off Spring Fever!

Held at George Washington’s River Farm, the American Horticultural Society’s headquarters, this extensive Flower Show offers the finest in horticultural plant material and floral designs from 32 northern Virginia garden clubs.  “All Things Bright and Beautiful” will be like going to a ‘flower library’ to see magnificently-grown local flowers.

In addition, the garden club’s premier release of its annual book, “Month to Month: Perennial and Shrub Maintenance Chart for the Mid-Atlantic Region, will take place April 17-19.

The 44-page reference chart organizes, in an easy-to-use format, all the comprehensive gardening information needed for those of us who are passionate about our gardens and the plants we nurture!

Hot off the presses, they sell for $8 each to garden club members, $10 to non-members.  Contact Evalee Ciuca at GardenChart@aol.com  for more information.

Also, the horticultural Society is holding its annual choice plant sale, an event eagerly anticipated each year by all gardeners, also on April 17.  You don’t want to miss the lovely grounds at River Farm in full bloom.

These three exciting events, all at the same time and place, make this a “must-go” for complete immersion in beautiful flowers and gardening. It’s a race to see who gets there first!

River Farm is located at 7931 East Boulevard Drive, off the GW Parkway near Mount Vernon. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend, at no charge. The highly-awarded show will start on Thursday April 17, from 1:30 to 5:00 pm, Friday, April 18 from 9 am to 5 PM, and Saturday, April 19 from 9 am to 4 pm.
