Leadership Alexandria is a program of the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce with the mission of bringing together a network of diverse community leaders who are committed to the city and who want to gain a deeper understanding of the critical issues affecting the city of Alexandria. The program started with the inaugural class of 2004 and has 142 graduates.
Over a period of nine months, which began with a two-day retreat, full day classes are held the first Wednesday of each month, continuing through April and concluding with another two-day retreat in May. Throughout this time, we will hone our leadership skills and explore what makes Alexandria tick.
Each month we will take a different focus. At our October meeting, we looked at the economics of the region, and economic forecasts specific to the city of Alexandria. In November, we will address housing and transportation, and in December, the role of government in society. In January, the topic will be creating a healthy community. February focuses in on education, March is on ensuring a safe community and Aprils theme is discovering our community.
