More than 5,000 people lined Mount Vernon Avenue to participate in the annual Del Ray Halloween Parade last Saturday. This year saw some of the most unusual and clever costumes, making for a difficult time for the judges.

The 2008 parade winners were:

Best Decorated Stroller Competition

Best Overall:  Island Hume Avenue, comprised of the Hart, Rauner, Krasfur Families & Neighbors.

Most Creative:  Wagon Organic Del Ray with 3 baby chicks, created by Natalie Rose.

Most Humorous:  Count Alexander Castle, with Alexander Phipps as the King.

Best Group or Family:

Madeline of Del Ray made up of 9 Del Ray Girls.

Best Decorated House:

3rd Place:  309 Hume Avenue.

2nd Place:  311 Clifford Avenue.

1st Place:  210 East Monroe Avenue.

Best Decorated Businesses were Yates Automotive First Place & Mancinis Caf received an Honorable Mention.
