City Sales Soared in September

September home sales for the city of Alexandria followed the same overall pattern as reported for Fairfax County. Home sales rose in all categories as compared to the same month last year, according to the Northern Virginia Association of Realtors report.

In Alexandria, single-family home sales rose by 25 percent, to a total of 30. The median price fell by 18 percent, to $605,500. Townhouse sales rose by 39 percent, with 50 units sold. The median price fell by 20 percent, to $461,250. For condos, the increase was 22 percent, to a total of 84. Condos also showed a modest median-price increase, by 4 percent, to $307,500.
