Ireton Tennis

Bishop Ireton varsity boys tennis team is off to a roaring start.

Two weeks ago it blanked Our Lady of Good Counsel High School, 9 0 at the Olney Manor Recreation Park in Olney, Md.  The Cardinals swept both the singles and doubles matches to record their second shut-out of the season.

The team defeated Bishop McNamara 9 0 in their season opener.  Their lone set-back thus far was a 6 3 loss to Paul VI.

The Cardinals compete in the Washington Area Catholic Conference.

Ireton swept all the singles and doubles events in defeating the Good Counsel Falcons.  Iretons number one player, sophomore Alex Britcliffe, easily defeated his opponent, as did seniors Jake McConville (number four) and Alex Cruz (number five).  Junior Michael Parente, the Cardinals number two player, won in a close contest to improve his singles record to 3 0.

Likewise, freshmen Michael Zakaria and Sebastian Spinetto, playing number three and six singles, respectively, each remain undefeated in singles competition at 3 0.  The doubles teams of Britcliffe Parente, McConville Cruz, and Zakaria and fellow freshman Reid Yager, all recorded win to complete the shut-out.

If the Smart ForTwo had a theme song, it might be Bob Dylans Times They are a Changing.

With gas prices out of sight and the world getting smaller every day, the Smart ForTwo could be the forefront of a movement to small, fuel efficient car.
