  • Bishop Ireton clarinet ensemble performs at White House

The Bishop Ireton Clarinet Ensemble performed at the White House during its holiday tours on Dec. 21. 

BI’s Music Director, Dr. Randall Eyles and Julianna Arnold, the Clarinet Ensemble Coach, led the members of the BI Clarinet Ensemble who performed for guests touring the White House. 

Members of the BI Clarinet Ensemble include Audrey Hueg, Zachary Martini, Amanda Howells, Helen Fonda, Saznin Mehta, Joanna Pacori, Colleen OConnor, Geneva Auduong, Dominique Villoria, Clara Candalor, and Allen Derina. 

All members of the Clarinet Ensemble are also members of the 2007-2008 Bishop Ireton Symphonic Wind Ensemble, with Dr. Randall Eyles as the Conductor.

  • T.C. Williams competes on Its Academic

Watch Its Academic at 10:30 a.m. this Saturday, Jan. 12, to see if T.C. Williams High School students prevail in a quiz-show competition with students from two other area high schools. The program, taped on Nov. 17, will be televised on NBC TV Channel 4.

T.C. Williams will appear in a first-round contest with teams from Charles Herbert Flowers High School in Springdale, Md., a Prince Georges County public school; and South County Secondary School in Lorton, a Fairfax County public school. T.C. Williams team members include Andrew Wyse, Anil Kenkeremath and Michael Montiel. Alternates are Eva Baker and Tom Lynam. A T.C. Williams cheerleading squad will perform during the program.

  • Registration begins at NOVA’s Alexandria Campus

Registration is now underway for current Northern Virginia Community College students for the spring 2008 semester. Students are encouraged to register early in order to get their first choice of classes.  The 16-week spring semester begins Jan. 14. NOVA also offers two eight-week sessions which start Jan. 14 and March 17. The eight-week condensed sessions cover the same material and award the same credits as the 16-week session.

At $88 per credit for in-state students, NOVAs tuition is the best educational value in the area, said Tricia Holser, a NOVA spokesperson.

Registrations are being taken online through NovaConnect at www.nvcc.edu/novaconnect. Telephone registration is available by calling 703-323-3770, or come to the Bisdorf building to sign up for classes.
