


On Saturday a six-man contingent from TC Williams track team competed in Westfield High Schools third annual Nike Invitational in Chantilly.
With a field comprised of Dematha, Quince Orchard, Midlothian, Woodson and a total of 15 teams overall, the TC Titans stood as tall as ever placing fifth.
Led by the one-man wrecking crew Jamal Ford, he competed in 5 events and placed in four (anchoring 4 x 400 relay to 5th, triple jump 3rd with a persona record of over a foot 435, 2nd in the 100/11.05 & 200/ 22.33)
Tommy Clarke tied his personal record winning the pole vault at 14. The day was rounded out with the performance of Frank Afriyie in the shot put with his state-qualifying throw of 52 8 while embroiled in a great battle and being edged out of fi rst on the last throw of the day by Quince Orchard.
At this juncture Ford and Tynita Butts have qualifi ed for states in 3 events. Tommy Clark, Taylor Wuerker, Brad Kenimer, Frank Afriyie and Eval Baker round out the remaining state qualifiers.
