The City of Alexandrias free King Street Trolley has attracted more than 173,000 passengers in its first three months of operation.

The trolley, which made its official debut April 1, transports riders between the Potomac River waterfront and the King Street Metro, providing residents and visitors with comfortable and easy access to accommodations, dining, entertainment, and shopping.

During April, approximately 41,000 passengers boarded the trolley. An additional 53,000 passengers boarded in May, and 79,000 boarded in June. The trolley, operated by Gray Line D.C. for the City of Alexandria, is also part of the citys continuous efforts to manage congestion, reduce mobile emissions, and encourage residents, commuters, and visitors to choose alternative means of transportation.

The free King Street Trolley operates seven days a week, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., departing from the Potomac River waterfront and the King Street Metro Station every 15 minutes. Passengers can hop on and off the trolley at any of the 20 designated trolley stops. In the weeks to come, a new audio feature will be added, providing announcements for each designated stop, as well as historic information about Old Town.
