Joshua Buker, 21, was killed in a car accident early Saturday morning after being ejected from the passenger seat of a friends car. He was not wearing a seatbelt. The crash, occurring about 2:15 a.m., occurred in the Franconia area of Fairfax County.
Bukers best friend and driver of the car, 22 year-old Steven Kowalik, reportedly lost control of the vehicle and slammed into a tree and utility pole. He was treated for non-life threatening injuries and was later charged with driving while intoxicated. Police said speed was also a factor in the crash.
Buker is the son of Master Deputy Shawn Buker and Captain Lucinda Buker of the Alexandria Sheriffs Office.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, January 10 at 10 a.m. at Bush Hill Presbyterian Church, 4916 Franconia Road.
