Now that the Christmas season has come to an end and the holidays are behind us, The Salvation Army in Alexandria would like to let you know that your support during this past holiday season will have a tremendous impact on our ability to meet the needs of the men, women and children who are so often forgotten in our community.
We think it is important to take a moment to say thank you to the special individuals who reside in Alexandria and Southeast Fairfax County. I realize this is a simple phrase and is said so often, but I promise you, we say it with the most heartfelt gratitude. Your generosity is simply remarkable!
During these difficult financial times, the fact that you continue to support our organization is amazing. Thanks to you, our Red Kettle Campaign raised just short of $200,000 in Alexandria and over $1.1 million throughout the National Capital Area. This money will ensure that critical Army programs will continue throughout the upcoming year. As we all know, times are tough and the need within our community is greater than ever, but thanks to your generous support, The Salvation Army will continue to be there to provide food for the hungry, relief for disaster victims, assistance for the disabled, outreach to the elderly and ill, clothing and shelter to the homeless and opportunities for underprivileged children.
Because of you, The Salvation Army in Alexandria was able to provide new toys and clothing to 1,767 children and 103 senior citizens and food for over 800 households for a total of 3,243 people served in just six weeks. It was our hope that no family who requested help from us would go without, and because of you we were able to keep our promise of doing the most good within our community.
Only with the help of the Alexandria community can The Salvation Army continue to offer tangible help, hope, dignity, and renewed faith to the needy. Your generosity makes a bigger difference than you may realize.
Thank you once again on behalf of the men, women and children we serve!
