Friday the 13th kicked off Crystal Couture, two weeks of fashion events hosted by the Crystal City Business Improvement District (BID). Crystal Couture opened with a Freaky Friday gala, where attendees dressed in their funkiest outfits and shopped from local boutiques.
The BID is collaborating with Katherine Glorioso of Gossip on 23rd, Lowe Enterprises Real Estate Group and DC Magazine to stage two weeks of sample sales and trunk shows from designers, local boutiques and area salons. Additionally, Crystal Couture benefits a variety of philanthropic partners that include Goodwill, Suited for Change, the Human Rights Campaign and the American Heart Association.
Attendees are encouraged to dress for the days theme, compete for prizes, sample themed food and drinks, and donate new or gently used clothing and footwear to a worthy cause. All events are free, open to the public, and held in newly developed retail space at the corner of 23rd Street and Crystal Drive.
