Behind a stand-out performance from senior sprinter Danielle Williams, the St. Stephens and St. Agnes girls track team finished fourth out of more than 30 schools at Saturdays Viking Invitational at Walt Whitman High School in Bethesda, Md.
Williams, a Falls Church native, won both the 100-meter and 200-meter individual events and was part of the Saints fourth place finish in the 4×100-meter relay and the 4×400 relay squad that finished second, the former setting a new school record in the process.
Williams time of 12.07 seconds in the 100 is the fifth best in Virginia this year and her 200-meter time of 25.20 has her ranked eighth in the state oh, and she spent her winter practicing with the basketball team, not indoor track.
Her teammates know that she is naturally talented, but they also see that her fast times are because she trains hard on the track and in the weight room, said Saints first-year head coach Scott McLeod of Williams effect on her fellow runners this season.
